Frederick H. Beairsto

1942-2026

Frederick H. Beairsto

Frederick Hope Beairsto born December 28, 1942 passed away on February 4, 2026 at 83 years, at the Prince County Hospital. During his 83 years, Fred grew up in the Baltic area of Prince Edward Island and at the age of 16, he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces where he served for 25 years. Fred enjoyed being in administration while stationed in various locations of Canada such as Nova Scotia, Quebec, Newfoundland and New Brunswick.

While in St John’s, Newfoundland he met and married Jean Burke and started their family. Following his retirement in 1983, the family moved to Kensington, PEI. Over the years, Fred worked as a civil servant and ran his own administration company. Fred had a very active social life on PEI. His volunteer accolades consisted of sitting on the executive of the Kensington Legion Branch #9, EMO, being involved in the Provincial and Dominion Command of the Canadian Legion, RCASC and the Liberal Party of PEI. Fred thoroughly enjoyed the friendships he made along the way and with his poker and crib buddies on Wednesday and Saturdays.

Fred was a regular at his granddaughter’s cafe in Kensington sitting at his usual table talking to the locals. The Beairsto home was always open for any travelling military friends and family. Fred and Jean truly embraced the friendships they made along the way and enjoyed spending various winters in Dade City, Florida.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Jim and Hattie (Campbell) Beairsto and his younger brother, Bob Beairsto. Fred was also pre-deceased by his wife of 57 years, Jean, in December of 2023. He is survived by his three children Dean (Trish) Beairsto in Calgary, AB, Greg (Olive) Beairsto in Kensington, PEI and Heather-Mae (Jonathan) Zinck in Dartmouth, NS. Fred could consistently be heard bragging about his grandchildren Megan (Edward) Lambert, Michael (Laine) Beairsto, Mackenzie Zinck, Mary-Anne (Jordan) Masse and Margaret Zinck. Fred would smile with delight whenever he was around his three great-grandchildren, Fred & Archie Lambert and Winnie Beairsto. Fred is survived by his nephews Steve and Scott who reside in Alberta and Jean’s brother Wayne Burke, Clyde River, PEI.
