Ernestine Elizabeth Simpson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernestine Elizabeth Simpson on May 21, 2026 at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside at the age of 88. Born in Central Bedeque on July 27, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Harriett (MacKinnon) Crossman. Loving mother to Kathy MacKay (Marty) and Debbie Graham. Adored grandmother to Melanie Harding (Clifton), Christine Cousins (Dale), Angela Simpson (Matti), Heather Simpson (Kayla) and Michael Graham (Amanda). Beloved great-grandmother to McKenzie Cole, Haley Cole, Samuel Harding, Grace Harding, Luca Harding and Liam Harding. Cherished great-great-grandmother to Bennett White. Predeceased by her son Kevin (Rose) and sisters Bertha Gardiner, Henrietta Baglole, Ruth Benson, June Millar and brother Horace Crossman.

Ernestine will also be lovingly missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Ernestine cherished family above all. Her generosity, caring and constant support created a legacy of love that will forever be remembered. She was a gracious host who arranged for countless beautiful memories at her home through birthday celebrations, holiday festivities, Sunday suppers and umpteen card parties around the table. 

Ernestine found peace in her furry companion Jacques, the company of family and friends and the beauty of nature on Prince Edward Island - her forever home. Nanny’s presence will be greatly and eternally missed.

Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington for a private service to be held on May 27^th at 11:30 am, which will be available to view online on the funeral home’s website. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Central Bedeque Cemetery Fund.
