Edith L. MacKay

1936-2025

Edith L. MacKay

Edith MacKay (nee Campbell), aged 88, joined her Saviour, 2 sons and many beloved family members and friends in heaven on May 27th, 2025. Edith was born in the district of Baltic, PEI in 1936, to George and Greta (MacLeod) Campbell. The 5th child in a family of 11 meant she learned to be a part of rearing and feeding a family at an early age. She carried her homemaking and cooking skills into raising her own 3 sons who all excelled in the trades. Edith enjoyed all the Campbell reunions and impromptu kitchen parties her family was known for. She was very proud of her youngest son's musical prowess, especially on the fiddle. Like most of her family, Edith moved for a time to Halifax after completing the highest grade available in rural PEI. Her best memory there was working at the Moirs chocolate factory. Edith raised her family in Traveller's Rest, St Eleanor's,  and Greenvale . She eventually moved to Charlottetown and there attended 1st Baptist Church.

Edith is survived by her son Chris;  brothers, Donald (Karen) PEI; Edward (PEI); and sisters, Joyce Merchant(NS), Harriet Goldsmith (ON), Marjorie (Al Iaboni) ON, and Eleanor (Mike Truesdell) QC.

Edith was also predeceased by her Husband Edgar Mackay (PEI) , Sons,  Richard (PEI) Tony (Deborah) Marsh Ont; Sisters, Shirley Matthews (On) , Marion Adams (MB) Brothers Ethan (NS) and Robert (NS)
