Mary Edith Florence McLure Moase

Mary Edith Florence McLure Moase

Mary peacefully passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on January 22nd at the Prince County Hospital. She lived a long beautiful life guided by her deep faith. Mary was a strong, caring and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Wellington on August 15th, 1928 to parents Jean and Roy McLure, and she grew up on her parents farm in Union Corner. At the age of 16, she left to the Prince of Wales College to become a teacher. Mary then moved to Summerside and taught at the Slemon Park Air Force Base for many years. She married her cherished husband, Vernon Moase, and together they shared their beloved son Ewen. In her later years, Mary was best known as "Nana". She became the adoring grandmother of her two grandchildren Samuel and Charlotte Moase. For the last two years, Mary was a resident of Kensington Community Care.

Throughout her life, Mary was a devout member of the United Church. She spent many years throughout her life being an avid volunteer at the church, from being a long time Sunday school teacher to being a member of the United Church Women. She was a kind and giving woman who would do anything for others. Mary was extremely knowledgeable with family history and enjoyed teaching her family and friends the history. She always had a great story to tell, lots of food to feed visitors, and always had a witty joke.

Mary is predeceased by her pride and joy, her son, The Rev. Ewen Moase, her husband Vernon Moase and her parents Jean and Roy McLure. She is also predeceased by many other dear family members and friends. Mary is survived by and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Charlotte (Halifax) and Samuel (Amherst). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, close cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the love and care that Mary was given at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Prince County Hospital and Kensington Community Care.
