1925-2014

Norman MacRae

Peacefully in his sleep, at his late residence on Friday March 28, 2014 of Norman MacRae of 25 Pleasant St. Kensington and formerly of Spring Brook aged 88 years. Born in Spring Brook, December 14, 1925, son of late William W. and Ada B. (Paynter) MacRae. Husband of the late Muriel E. (Paynter) MacRae. Father of Adelaide (Elmer) MacAusland; Austin (Paula) MacRae, George (Nancy) MacRae, Marie Ramsay, and Cindy MacRae (Arthur Burt). Father-in-law of Jack McKie. Grandfather of 13 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 1 Great-great-grandchild. Brother of Bennett MacRae and Hugh (Gloria) MacRae. Brother-in-law of Herbert (Margaret) Paynter, Gladys Stavert, Joan (Wesley) Cole, Brenda Baglole and  Mollie Paynter. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  

He was predeceased by his daughter Ann McKie, son-in-law Alen Clark, brother Borden MacRae, sisters Marion MacRae,  Eileen MacLean and Erma Oakes, brothers-in-law Douglas Paynter, Albert Stavert, and Charles Oakes and sister-in-law Irene MacRae.

Norman loved the Island and spent many hours watching the birds visit his feeders.  He enjoyed many visits from both family and friends.  He was a man gifted always with a quick wit.  

Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. followed by the funeral in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 5 p.m.  Interment later in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. If so desired contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
