Joyce V. MacFadyen

1927-2025

Joyce V. MacFadyen

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Vivian Joyce MacFadyen on August 12, 2025 at Prince County Hospital, peacefully surrounded by family, following a brief illness.

Joyce was born in Charlottetown on August 28, 1927, the daughter of the late Percy and Vivian Rodd (née Romkey). She is survived by the love of her life for 75 years, her husband Gerald (Jeddie) MacFadyen of Augustine Cove; her three much-loved sons, Donald, William (Nancy), and Neil (Tammy); her sister, Shirley (Ernie) Bryanton; and brother-in-law, George Nicholson.

One of the great joys of her life was her grandchildren (most of whom had the privilege of growing up next door to her): Kirk (Fabienne), Natasha, Michael (Danielle), Daniel (Crystal), Rodney (Rebecca) MacFadyen, and Laura (Kevin) Clarke.

She was predeceased by her sister Doris (Clarence) Gallant, her brothers David and Percy Rodd, daughters-in-law Lois and Palma (Pam), as well as several sisters- and brothers-in-law.

Joyce was very proud of her great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her deeply — Justin, Mathis, Leeloo, Lillian, Emily, Audrey, Margaret, Cullen, Jed, Miller, Kai, Maverick, Nova, Sully, Wyatt, Finley, and Arlowe.

Bonded by their shared love of flowers and gardening, she spent countless joyful hours and cherished adventures with her dear friend, Annie Lee MacDonald.

The family would like to thank the ER and medical floor staff at Prince County Hospital — especially Laura and Mariah — for their compassionate care.

Resting at Davison Funeral Home, Kensington. No visitation by personal request. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Tryon Presbyterian Church, followed by a time of fellowship and remembrance in the church hall.
