Robert Taylor Matheson

It is with sadness that the family of Robert Taylor Matheson of Summerside and formerly of North Granville, announces his death, occurring at the Prince County Hospital Summerside on Sunday February 12, 2017.

Born in Summerside on July 14, 1945 son of the late Emerson and Marion (Taylor) Matheson. He is survived by his spouse Shirley Wagner; daughter Louise (Eric) Johnson, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; son Wayne Matheson, Charlottetown; stepsons Vance (Val) Wagner, Alberta and William Wagner (Pam Ross), Charlottetown. He will be missed by his sister Mary Johnstone (Ross Graham), 4 grandchildren, as well as a large extended family. Robert was predeceased by his wife Maude (Parsons) Matheson and sister Margaret Matheson.

Over his lifetime, Robert worked for companies such as Toombs’ Construction, Maritime Construction. Island Excavators and Island Coastal Services; finishing his career with Island Coastal as Superintendent at Green Gables Golf Course.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Prince County Hospital for their wonderful care and support over the last few months.

Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington, where a public funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday February 18 at 11 a.m.

No visitation by request. Interment will later take place in the North Granville Cemetery.  NO FLOWERS PLEASE, If so desired contributions may be made to the North Granville Cemetery Fund.

The family will be receiving friends at the North Granville Community Hall following the service for a time of sharing memories and food.

The service will be broadcast live on the website on the day of the funeral.
