Sheila Dunphy
1939-2017
After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Sheila Dunphy, age 77 years, of Charlottetown and formerly of Kensington, passed peacefully surrounded by family at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Basil Haire, Summerside on Sunday January 22, 2017. Sheila was born in Kensington and was the daughter of James Dunphy and Alice (Woodington). She was a teacher and long time pastoral worker, most recently at St. Pius X parish in Charlottetown. Her gentle manner and charitable spirit made her a confidante and friend to many. Left to mourn and remember are her siblings, Catherine (Kay) White, Osterville, MA; Pat (George) Power, Summerside; Mary (Basil) Haire, Summerside; Helen Dornan, Saskatoon; Eileen Rubini, Toronto; Barb Dunphy (Bill Scharff) Vancouver Island; Jimmy (Mila) Dunphy, Calgary, AB; Kevin (Anna) Dunphy, Chelton and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents James and Alice Dunphy and a sibling at birth.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington where members of St. Mary’s Holy Family CWL will hold a prayer service Thursday at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4-7 p.m., then transferred to St. Mary's Holy Family Church in Kensington for funeral mass on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery Indian River. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Oncology Department would be greatly appreciated. A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at St. Pius the X Church, Charlottetown at a later date.
