1939-2016

Barbara MacQuarrie

Barbara MacQuarrie passed away peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside on December 29th, 2016 aged 77 years. She was born Barbara Adele Palmer, to Adelbert and Maisie (nee Cameron) Palmer on January 19th, 1939. She grew up and lived all her life in Searletown PEI, having married the boy next door, Harold MacQuarrie.  Together, they had a happy 40 year marriage and 4 children.

Barbara was a member of Bedeque United Church UCW, Searletown Women's Institute, and the Lady Slippers Squaredance Club.

She was a farm wife and mother. She also was employed by Marine Atlantic Ferries for many years. 

She was predeceased by her husband in 2000. Mourning her loss are her children, Joan (John) Clark, Sheldon (Colleen) MacQuarrie, Bruce (Mary) MacQuarrie, Scott (Colline) MacQuarrie, six Grandchildren and two Great-grandchildren. As well as her siblings George (Trish) Palmer, Wesley (Dawna) Palmer and Carolyn (Alan) Reck.

Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Sunday January 1st from 3-6 p.m.  Funeral Monday at the Bedeque United Church, at 11 .a.m. Interment later in the Free Church of Scotland Cemetery Cape Traverse. If so desired contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

The funeral will be available to view on this website after 1 p.m. the day of the funeral.
