When a death occurs, it is important that the funeral home be notified as soon as possible. If you are traveling or on holidays when a sudden death occurs, you do not have to go to an unfamiliar funeral home in a place where you do not know anyone. The only funeral home that has to be called is your local funeral home. We can have arrangements made to bring the deceased home from anywhere around the world. 3. Notify Your Clergy or Ask Us To Do This For You 4. Gather information for the Death Certificate:
5. Select clothing and personal items for the deceased.
6. Gather Information for Death Notice: Davison Funeral Home will normally write the article and submit to the newspaper(s). 7. Decide an appropriate memorial to which gifts can be made. 8. Select Pallbearers. 9. Make a list and contact by telephone:
10. Locate the will and notify the Lawyer and Executor. 11. Arrange for members of the family or close friends to take turns answering door or telephone. Keep a careful record of all calls. 12. Arrange for childcare, if necessary. 13. Arrange hospitality for visiting relatives and friends. 14. Check and notify:
15. Prepare a list of distant persons to be notified. 16. Old Age Security cancellation & Canada Pension Applications for death benefit, spousal allowance and orphans benefit. Davison Funeral Home will supply forms and aid in completion. 17. If checks are automatic deposit, notify bank of death. Check with Old Age Security at (800) 277-9914 to see that number is retired, and for possible additional benefits such as Widowed Spouses Allowance and Guaranteed Income Supplement. 18.
